LEW HARRIS PRODUCTIONS

South Africa is a very large modern country that is broken up into different regions and provinces. South Africa is a great place for first time hunters as well as the experienced hunters looking for specific trophies that can only be taken in South Africa. The majority of the hunting is done on large private game ranches which have exterior game fencing, but no interior fencing. Although the hunting is done on ranches, the hunt is still very challenging due to the size of the ranches. All the accommodations are of excellent standard in permanent lodges.

Lew Harris Safaris offer a variety of hunting areas and packages to choose from. These areas have been carefully selected to offer you, the hunter, a choice of quality hunting grounds and a variety of species to choose from.

Arms and ammunition

Your calibre rifle can differ immensely when it comes to different trophy's you wish to hunt, be it big 5 or plains game. It is advisable to bring a smaller calibre rifle, such as 270, 30-06 and 338 for the smaller plains game, such as Springbuck, Impala, Blesbok, etc. For the bigger antelope, such as Cape Eland, Kudu, Gemsbuck, it is advisable to bring a 375 or 416. Remember, it is better to have a rifle that's bigger in calibre, than a rifle that's too small for your trophy. Also, to make your travels ''hassle free'', we can recommend a travel agent in the states and in South Africa. These people have all the rifle permit papers and recommendations, and can make your safari so much smoother!

Visitors bringing firearms into South Africa for hunting purposes will be asked to fill in a SAP 520 - Temporary Import Application.
